Fascia and soffit in our climate
Rotted fascia behind gutters is common where ice dams and overflowing gutters soak the wood every winter. Replace soft boards before wrapping. Vented soffit is the intake half of attic ventilation, which is one of the best defenses against ice dams in Ohio and Michigan.

Frequently asked questions
What is fascia wrap?
Aluminum or other coil stock bent to cover wood fascia boards so they do not need paint. Wrapping over rotted boards hides the damage, so bad boards should be replaced first.
How is soffit area calculated?
Length of each eave or rake times the soffit depth, measured horizontally from the wall to the back of the fascia.
How many rolls of coil stock do I need?
Enter the fascia board face, bend allowance, coil width and roll length. The calculator works out how many strips fit across the coil and how many rolls cover your fascia length.
Does vented soffit matter?
Yes. Attic ventilation depends on intake at the soffit. Ask your installer how much vented soffit your attic needs.
