Who runs this site

Midwest Roof Calculators is run by Jonathan Blake LLC d/b/a The Lead Venture. It was founded by Jonathan Blake, who also works for the independent Ohio and Michigan roofing and exterior contractor that our founder works for.

How requests are handled

Every request you send, including free inspection requests, goes to Midwest Roof Calculators first. What happens next depends on the optional sharing box:

  • Box left unchecked: your request stays with Midwest Roof Calculators. Our founder, Jonathan Blake, contacts you and, where he can, does the inspection himself. We do not pass your details to any other company.
  • Box checked: we may also pass your name, email, phone number, ZIP code and project details to the independent Ohio and Michigan roofing and exterior contractor that our founder works for, so they can contact you about that request only. That is the company that handles quotes, repairs, replacements and commercial work.

The same choice appears on the free inspection form and on every calculator and tool form. We never share your text-message consent. Shared requests currently go to one contractor. If that changes, this page will be updated before any sharing with another company begins.

Brands we mention

Our guides use Owens Corning and Atlas shingles and CertainTeed SMARTCOAT coatings as examples. The company Jonathan Blake works for installs those products, so they are the ones we know best. Midwest Roof Calculators does not rank brands, and a mention is not an endorsement or a claim that any contractor is certified by a manufacturer. Always read the manufacturer's current written warranty.

Free inspections

A Free Asset Protection Inspection is done at no charge by our founder, Jonathan Blake, or, if you check the sharing box, by the independent Ohio and Michigan roofing and exterior contractor that our founder works for. It is a no-obligation assessment, not a warranty, engineering report or insurance determination. You are never required to hire anyone. Compensation

Midwest Roof Calculators may earn money in these ways, now or in the future:

  • Referral or lead fees: we may be paid a referral fee or lead fee when a request you chose to share turns into work for a contractor.
  • Inspections and services by our founder: Jonathan Blake may be paid by the company he works for, including when an inspection he does leads to a project.
  • Sponsorships or advertising: if we ever accept one, it will be labeled where it appears.

Payments never change our planning ranges, calculator results or guides, and nobody can pay to be recommended in a tool. We will keep this page current with the kinds of fees we receive and who pays them.

No reviews, ratings or endorsements

We do not publish customer reviews, star ratings, certifications or contractor endorsements.

What our numbers are

  • Roof area, squares, bundles and budget totals are calculated from your inputs using the formulas on our methodology page.
  • The residential roof planning ranges ($500–$1,000 per square for architectural shingles; $1,000–$1,800 per square for standing-seam metal; $500–$1,200 per square for exposed-fastener metal; $500–$1,000 per square for flat or low-slope roofs (EPDM or TPO)) are our provisional planning settings, not verified Ohio or Michigan averages and not quotes.
  • Permit research counts are provisional rule-based classifications of public records. Permit estimates are not installed prices.
  • The exterior planning ranges (gutters, vinyl siding, fascia wrap, soffit and standard vinyl windows) are also our provisional settings, chosen from published cost guides that are listed in the project files. They are not an average of those guides, not a local survey and not a quote.
  • The commercial roof planning ranges (inspection program, maintenance plan, coating restoration and replacement, per square foot) are our provisional settings, chosen after reading the published sources listed on that tool. They are not an average of those sources, not a local survey and not a quote.
  • We do not show prices for repairs, non-shingle residential roofing, commercial exterior work or chimney work.
