Why Northwest Ohio roofs get dirty
Much of Northwest Ohio is open farmland, so field dust and crop residue settle on flat roofs, along with leaves and seed from nearby trees. Near western Lake Erie, early-summer mayfly hatches can leave residue on buildings close to the shore.
