Frequently asked questions
How do I know if hail damaged my roof?
From the ground, look for round dents on gutters, downspouts, vents and window wraps, and for granules piling up at downspout outlets. Hail marks on shingles are hard to see from below, so an inspector usually confirms them up close.
Should I file an insurance claim after a storm?
That is a decision for you and your insurer. Many owners get an inspection first so they know what is actually damaged. Call your agent with questions about your policy, and never sign an assignment of benefits on the doorstep.
How soon after a storm should I get an inspection?
If water is coming in, as soon as possible. If you only see outside damage, within a few weeks is common, before the next storm season. Many policies have time limits for reporting damage, so check yours.
Is the quiz a roof inspection?
